Hi Everyone,

I have good news and not so good news.  The good news is that the fencing company will be at the courts today to officially kick off the court conversion.  The not so good news is that we will not be able to play tonight at the courts.

The digging will begin sometime this morning.  We do not know how long this will take and to what extent we will be able to access the courts for Sunday play. Please continue to keep an eye out for posts to update play times, I will do my best to keep everyone informed.

Please remember that there are 2 public courts in Monclova behind the fire station on Albon Road. These courts have painted pickleball lines and you can use the existing tennis nets.  Also, there are three painted courts at Centennial Terrace that will require a portable net.  If you are a Charter Member and would like to get a group together, you can use the portable nets that belong to the club.  Please contact me if you need a net.

Thanks to everyone in advance for your patience during this court conversion process.  We are going to do our absolute best to minimize the time that we will have to cancel play.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call/email me or Connie.

Thanks

Marsha

Rossford Outdoor Play – Tuesday, May 15, 2012 @ 6pm

Posted: May 14, 2012 in Uncategorized

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to announce that we are going to schedule outdoor play tomorrow, Tuesday, May 15, 2012.  Work on the courts is set to begin on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. If the work begins on schedule we would have to cancel play that evening.  If however, the work does not begin as planned we will play both Tuesday and Wednesday evening this week.

The play schedule is going to be a bit random over the next month or so. Please keep an eye out for my posts to stay up to date.

If your schedule allows, please come and join us tomorrow night at the Rossford courts starting at 6:00pm. I should have an update about Wednesday by tomorrow and will let everyone know.

Take care everyone and hope to see you on the courts!

Marsha

Hi Everyone!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mom’s!!!  There has been a request to start at noon tomorrow rather than the usual 1:00pm start.  Unfortunately, I am out of town so I will not be able to join you all.

If you are in town come and join the fun at noon tomorrow!

Rossford Court Conversion – Equipment Needed

Posted: May 1, 2012 in Uncategorized

Hello Everyone,

I spoke with Al today and he is gearing up to come back to Ohio very soon!

Al has shared a few needs that he will have regarding equipment for the court conversion.  I wanted to reach out to everyone in hopes that someone either has access to or knows someone with access to a few needed items. Here is the current list;

  • 3 or 4 Clean 55-Gallon drums with lids ( We have found a local place in Rossford that handles used drums but they charge $25 per drum and we would need to order them. Obviously, we are trying to minimize expense and free would be a much better deal for us :)
  • 4 or 5 Metal 5-Gallon buckets (with lids if possible)
  • A cart or dolly with 4 wheels, ideally measuring 20-30 inches wide and 3 ft long

Please contact me if you are able to help!  Thank you all in advance!

Hi Everyone,

It’s that time of the year again when we are all itching to get outdoors and play some Pickleball.  As most of you know, we are at the beginning of our court conversion in Rossford.  We would like to get a few days on the calendar for outdoor play, realizing that there will be some disruption during the process.

Starting, Sunday, May 6th we will begin organized play on Sunday from 1-4pm and Wednesday evenings from 6pm-dark. As soon as the conversion starts and we have a better idea of the timeline, I hope to add more play times to the schedule.

The drop-in fee this year will be $5.00 and free to Charter Members.  If you are not signed up as a Charter Member and would like more information, please email or call me. There are still a few days to sign up.

Regarding the weather and outdoor play, please make sure to look for a post on the days where the weather is “iffy”.  I will not send out a post if the weather is obvious, but if we feel like it is questionable, I will send out a post so we are all aware that the play is on or cancelled.

I look forward to playing with you all soon.

Marsha

A big thank you to EVERYONE who came out yesterday on a very windy, but warm Sunday to make our Rossford “Open Court” Party a big success.  We had 33 individuals sign up to become Charter Members of the Pickleball Club of Greater Toledo.  It was so exciting to see Pickleball being played on all six courts at one time.  Definitely a new first in the Toledo area and very soon to be the norm, thanks to everyone who caught the vision yesterday.

Here are a few pictures that Jim Barnhart was kind enough to take.  Thanks again to everyone who came early to help tape and mark the courts.  A very special thank you to our junior helpers Lana and Curt Wells.  Curt thank you for providing such tight security for the event!

If you were not able to join us yesterday or now that 33 people have signed up to be Charter Members and you are wondering what all this is about, please call or email me and I would be more than happy to speak with you regarding the details.  Also, please click these two links to read the information that was shared yesterday Toledo Pickleball Timeline and Pickleball Charter Membership

We should have some final details out very soon to everyone who signed up yesterday. Thanks again!

The Rossford Court Conversion Party is all set to go and I believe the weather looks like it is going to hold out.  It actually might be a bit steamy out there if the temps reach the 80′s as predicted.

Please bring a chair, something to drink and if anyone would like to bring snacks/desserts that will be great.  Our club will be supplying the hot dogs!  Of course, bring your Pickleball paddle and be ready to play our first outdoor games of the season!!! The fun will begin at 2pm.

I hope we have a great turnout at this event. We really want to share our vision of the court conversion with you all.   I am really excited about this opportunity and I hope after our time together tomorrow, everyone will share in the same excitement.

If you are not able to make it Sunday and would like to be a part of the “charter membership”, please call or email me and let me know your interest.

Looking forward to seeing EVERYONE tomorrow!
